Veterinary Technician - Position Filled!

Pepperell Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal hospital for dogs and cats. We welcome both during hours emergency treatment cases as well as pets in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Our licensed veterinarians have years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care. Beyond first rate pet care, we strive to make our clinic comfortable and calm.

 We are in need of an experienced veterinary technician or veterinary assistant to add to our growing team to help make sure all of our clients and patients receive the personal attention they need.

The duties of our technicians include, but are not limited to:

Taking accurate patient histories, taking vitals, and preparing vaccinations for the doctors

Putting up in-hospital prescriptions and preparing outgoing prescriptions

Animal restraint

Assisting the doctors with procedures and treatments

Monitoring and administering medications to patients being treated in hospital

Collecting and preparing blood samples for outside lab diagnostics

Running in-house diagnostics (Idexx CBC, Catalyst, Snap machines, etc.)

Administering vaccinations and both subcutaneous and IM injections

Placing of IV Catheter, IV fluid preparation, and monitoring

Restocking exam rooms and treatment areas

Ordering laboratory supplies

Triaging patients both in-hospital as well as on the phone

Maintain accurate patient records

Preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients during and after surgery, and cleaning and sterilizing all equipment

Explaining vaccinations, general pet care, estimates, post-surgical care, and prescriptions to clients

Creating surgical estimates

Admitting of patients

Answering phone calls when available to help reception, or assigned to help reception

Requirements:

High School education/GED

3+ years of experience as a veterinary technician/veterinary assistant is a MUST (CVT not required)

1+ years of experience as a surgical technician is a MUST

Computer proficiency with Windows based computers (Cornerstone Veterinary Practice Management Software a plus) 

Exceptional problem-solving and multitasking skills (we are a very busy, fast-pace hospital)

Exceptional customer care skills and compassion 

Be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Must be able to stand a good portion of the day

- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude

This position will be a part to full-time position (averaging 20-35 per week). Some evening and Saturdays will be required.

Veterinary Receptionist - Position Filled!

We are in need of an experienced veterinary receptionist to assist our staff in making our hospital run smoothly and efficiently, and to make sure our clients receive the personal attention they need. Our receptionists are the first faces our clients see when they walk in and the first voice they hear on the phone making them an integral part of our organization.

 

The duties of our receptionists include, but are not limited to:

- Greeting clients and checking patients in

- Going over basic surgical estimates with clients

- Creating basic surgical estimates for patients

- Answering phone calls and determining the urgency of the call

- Relaying messages to doctors and management

- Making appointments with exceptional judgment of doctor and patient time

- Scheduling basic surgical procedures

- Keeping track of client flow and alerting clients when the doctor is running behind

- Checking patients out and processing payment transactions

- Balancing your register at the end of shifts

- Verifying all records are complete and properly filed away

- Retrieving records for upcoming appointments

- Calling clients with reminder calls, to check in on patients, or other calls as needed

- Making copies and sending/receiving faxes

- Keeping the front office neat and organized

- Dispensing flea/tick/heartworm medication accurately

- Restocking retail shelves and pricing retail items

- Taking prescription requests

- Cleaning the waiting areas after patient accidents (when safe to do so)

- Taking in fecal and urine samples 

 

Requirements:

- High School education/GED

- Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist is a MUST (technician experience a plus but not necessary)

- Computer proficiency with Windows based computers (Cornerstone Veterinary Practice Management Software a plus) 

- Exceptional problem-solving and multitasking skills (we are a very busy, face paced hospital)

- Exceptional customer care skills and compassion
